WD 推2TB容量硬碟 創最大容量記錄

Western Digital  公司推出業界第一台世界最大容量的 2 TB 硬碟， 此一產品正式加入WD 廣受各界歡迎、符合環保、低溫低噪音的 WD® Caviar® Green™ 硬碟系列。這一全新 3.5 吋硬碟採用 WD 領先業界的每碟片容量 500 GB 技術 (磁區密度達 400 Gb/in²) 為基礎所開發，總容量高達 2 TB。

Trend Focus 總裁 Mark Geenen 說：「當業界還有人在質疑是否消費者會購買容量達 1 TB 以上的硬碟產品時，事實上，3.5 吋的硬碟銷售中卻已有 10%的銷售量是購買 1 TB 或更高容量而來的，這些容量多是用於視訊應用以及與日俱增的媒體資料庫需求。」他進一步表示：「容量達 2 TB 的硬碟將可持續滿足用戶使用更大容量的硬碟來儲存更多資料的欲望。」 Read more

幾款Seagate和Maxtor硬碟需更新韌體

Seagate 表示去年2008年12月製造的Seagate和Maxtor硬碟，發現部份會有壞軌或是資料疑失的問題，想知道是否是否需要更新韌體和更換，請趕快用下面官方偵測程式(DriveDetect.exe)來看看自己的硬碟是不是在名單之內，並比對韌體版本。

A number of Seagate hard drives from the following families may become inaccessible when the host system is powered on:
Barracuda 7200.11
DiamondMax 22
Barracuda ES.2 SATA

Once a drive has become affected the data becomes inaccessible to users but the data is not deleted. Seagate has isolated this issue to a firmware bug affecting drives from these families manufactured in December 2008.

After determining your serial, model and firmware revision please attempt to find your model in the following list of affected models. If you have one of these drives you can choose it from the list for model-specific instructions to update the firmware.

Seagate 硬碟保固將縮水

Seagate 全系列硬碟本打著長達5年的保固現在有了改變，從明年開始，只要是從經銷商或代理商購買的Barracuda 7200、Momentus 7200/5400硬碟系列，原本5年的保固將降為3年保固，只有原廠盒裝版本才還有保有原本的5年保固，不過企業級的Savvio、Cheetah、 Barracuda ES和SV35硬碟系列則還是維持在5年保固。

但是面對硬碟容量愈來愈大、價錢愈來愈便宜的情況下來說，現在玩家們挑選容量大且又便宜的硬碟才是王道，硬碟保固長短似乎已經不是最重要的了。
